A History Lesson
STEP INSIDE THE SINGAPORE SPORTS MUSEUM TO GET STEEPED IN OUR SPORTING HERITAGE.
24-Nov-2018

HOW MUCH DO YOU remember about the heydays of Singapore's sporting legends like footballer Fandi Ahmad and swimmer Ang Peng Siong? Where were you when we hosted the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010? Have you ever visited the old National Stadium before it was officially closed in 2007?

Relive these and other highlights of our sporting past at the Singapore Sports Museum! First established in 1983 within the former National Stadium, it temporarily shut down in 2007 and reopened in 2014 at its current location within Singapore Sports Hub. More than 800 sportsrelated artefacts and memorabilia — many donated by athletes and fans — are on display, as well as touchscreen information panels, videos and other interactive features. In this way, the Museum both celebrates and preserves Singapore's sporting legacy and achievements.

Admission is free for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and children under six years old. Check out these programmes!

GUIDED TOURS

These 45-minute sessions, held on weekdays at 11am and 3pm, take you through the permanent galleries and temporary exhibits. With commentary from Museum guides, learn how Singapore's sporting journey began and how it has developed, get up close with momentos ranging from FIFA World Cup official match balls to relics of the old National Stadium, and pay homage to local sports stars.

ARTS & CRAFTS FOR KIDS

At the Children's Activity Corner in the Museum, children can express their creativity and be exposed to sports at the same time. Let your kids spend as much time as they like, getting crafty such as colouring the paper athlete dolls. They can even bring home their artworks as souvenirs.
