SOAK SO SHIOK
REST AND RELAX AT SOUTHEAST ASIA’S NO. 1 ONSEN
27-Aug-2018

AN ONSEN IN SINGAPORE SPORTS HUB? You heard it right. Yunomori Onsen & Spa (Yunomori) has, since May 2016, been in operation here at the Kallang Wave Mall. Yunomori, which means "hot water in the forest", boasts 11 pools with six variations of baths and other facilities such as sauna, steam bath, massage and spa treatment rooms, shower area, a dining café, lounge, locker facilities and a luggage concierge service for travellers looking for a relaxing experience.

What's unique at Yunomori is how it marries both authentic Japanese and Thai therapies — onsen therapy and Thai spa treatments. Harnessing the natural healing properties of mineral water and benefits of spa treatments, the aquatic therapies offered at Yunomori aim to cater to the health needs of everyone, from athletes to even children and the elderly. Visitors can choose from a variety of massage techniques to complement their baths to help relieve tension, improve circulation and restore vitality.

Complete this self-care routine by tucking into the Japanese food and snacks from the Yunomori Café and Lounge area.

Spanning more than 17,000 sq ft, the premises — as with traditional onsen facilities in Japan — has separate pools for men and women. Its opening hours, which stretch to 11pm, means that busy urbanites can pop in for a respite even after work hours. A spokesperson from Yunomori says, "We are excited to introduce the authentic Japanese onsen experience in Singapore, allowing customers to enjoy the health and beauty benefits of soaking in an onsen without having to travel all the way to Japan."

YUNOMORI ONSEN & SPA OFFERS SIX VARIATIONS OF BATHS.

HERE ARE SOME TO GET YOU STARTED:

SODA SPA

Featuring technology imported from Japan, this bath contains water enriched with a high concentration of natural carbon dioxide. The CO2- rich water can increase blood oxygen levels, improve circulation, reduce high blood pressure and also detoxify the blood.

SILK BATH

Jets of micro-bubbles containing hydrogen in the water give this bath a silky texture. This helps to relax the muscles and alleviates problems such as rheumatic and arthritic aches and pains, as well as mental stress. This bath is also purported to improve skin elasticity.

COLD BATH

It is recommended that this bath be entered into last, after soaking in the other hot baths. Set at 17 to 19 degrees Celsius, the water stimulates the body's natural energy and nerve endings. The Cold Bath also has anti-ageing properties as it helps to close pores and tighten the skin.
