Tour De Shimano

SINCE 1973, Shimano Singapore — the regional headquarters of worldrenowned Japanese bicycle manufacturer Shimano Inc., covering Southeast Asia and South Asia — has steadily expanded its presence on our shores. It all started with the establishment of an overseas bicycle component assembly centre in Singapore, Shimano's first factory outside of Japan, which today is a full-fledged manufacturing plant. And in 2014, the company launched its first branded experience centre, Shimano Cycling World, at Sports Hub.

Shimano Cycling World aims to enrich and develop the cycling culture in Singapore, promote cycling as a lifestyle, and also heighten awareness about the benefits of cycling. Visitors to the 650sqm space can walk through a historical showcase of bicycles, explore interactive cycling exhibits, and take part in regular activities such as these:

Let an experienced guide take you on a personalised tour of Shimano Cycling World to learn about the origin and evolution of bicycles, the diversity of bicycle types, and the innovations and precision of bicycle technologies.

Highlights include an antique bicycle collection as well as informative, hands-on exhibits. Lasting 30 to 45 minutes, the tour is free and can be customised for different groups.

Open to cyclists across all ability levels, this monthly cycling activity brings participants outdoors for a guided leisure ride along the Park Connector Network to a nearby attraction.

Have fun cycling with others in your group while passing iconic sights like Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage and the Singapore Flyer.

Want to know how to take care of your new bicycle or fix up an old one? Sign up for this free 90-minute workshop, held on the last Sunday of each month at 11am and 5pm.

Topics covered include how to use quick release skewers, adjust the brakes, remove wheels, change inner tubes and tyres, and clean the bicycle. Checks before riding and safety tips are also imparted.
